In and around the small village of Sobhan, Dar and I work with a growing group of committed Cambodians to offer hope and real opportunities to poor and desperate people who are struggling to live from day to day.

Jumpah

Jumpah: Is a Cambodian non-government organization registered with the royal government of Cambodia. A memorandum of understanding with the ministry of social affairs permits Jumpah to carry out a variety of compassionate, social and development activities in Kompong Speu province.

Vision: In every village, children modeling love, joy, hard work and service to God and to people.

Values: Teamwork; Service; Holistic ministry; Hard work; Family; Development / Growth; Common sense; Leadership; Respect; Joy; Compassion; Use of personal gifts.

Organizational Structure: A Board of Directors ensures that people and activities of Jumpah fulfill the mission and serve according to the stated values. The Board includes expatriate and Cambodian members. In the context of Cambodian development, we expect the Board will be advisory for some time. We hope it will eventually transition to a functioning body, though the timeline is not urgent or crucial. We believe good governance ensures both accountability and effectiveness of Jumpah.

Project Activity (2006-2009):


           Garden of Joy: A residential program in Samroueng Tong district, Kompong Speu Province, providing a home and support for children who have been orphaned when parents died from the effects of HIV-AIDS.

            Community Development: Basic training and support for village families in Samroueng Tong District, Kompong Speu Province, including project activity in the areas of health, literacy, agriculture, vocational training and education.
